99 Dollar Music Videos
My New Home for Music Videos
You remember the routine: come home from school, plop down on the couch, flip on the tv and watch music videos on MTV. These were music videos for the ages, driven by experimentation and exploration in pairing music and video together, tying the eyes and ears together. Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, The Beastie Boys' Sabotage, A-Ha's Take Me On, Bjork's All Is Full Of Love. But you've grown up and so have most music videos. Flaunting big budgets and the basic formula down pat from Top 40 bands, do you really even watch music videos anymore?
Nowadays, I do absolutely all of my video watching online. Which is why I'm into Music Videos for an awesome mix of past and present. As Community Manager, I'm stoked to be part of a team whose main goal is to pair fresh and talented bands with creative filmmakers and give them a mission: make a kick-ass music video for under 99 bucks. And what do you get from this exchange? You get to watch the finished project, a fun, clever music video and then see how they did it with behind-the-scenes footage. Get to know the hearts behind the music and the brains behind the lens.
